It is with immense sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Sofia Marie Masciarelli, a vibrant and cherished 24-year-old who left us on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Sofia’s life was a testament to love, kindness, and perseverance, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Life Filled with Radiance
Born on April 16, 2000, Sofia brought joy to everyone she met. Known for her infectious laughter, compassionate nature, and fiery determination, Sofia had an extraordinary ability to make others feel valued and loved. Her loyalty to family, friends, and those she trusted was unwavering, and her spirit illuminated every room she entered.
As a young mother, Sofia found immense joy in her daughter, Aria Masciarelli, with whom she shared a special bond. Their moments together were filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love.
Accomplishments and Passions
Sofia lived a life marked by remarkable achievements and deep connections:
- Athletics: A 2018 graduate of Oliver Ames High School, Sofia was captain of the varsity lacrosse team and a dedicated soccer player. Her teammates admired her leadership and vibrant spirit.
- Education: She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of New Hampshire in 2022, showcasing her determination to achieve her dreams.
- Work: Sofia was an integral part of her family business, The Loft at La Novità, where she found a second family among her coworkers and customers.
Sofia also had an uncanny gift for humor, often making others laugh—even at her own expense. Her joy and energy were infectious, touching the lives of friends, family, and colleagues alike.
A Loving Family
Sofia is predeceased by her beloved father, Anthony Masciarelli, and her paternal grandfathers, Nicola Masciarelli and Joseph Doyle, as well as her godmother Wendy Sinclair and aunts Debbie Wilson and Susan Masciarelli.
She is survived by:
- Her precious daughter, Aria Masciarelli
- Her mother, Annemarie Masciarelli
- Siblings: Stefano and Sandro Masciarelli
- Maternal grandmother, Maureen Doyle, and paternal grandmother, Annamaria Masciarelli
- Numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and close friends, including her best friend, Chloe Kilkelly, who also serves as Aria’s godmother.
Sofia was deeply adored by her fiancé, Julian, and her love, Riley Sullivan, who brought profound joy to her life.
Remembering Sofia
Sofia was a beacon of light and love in the lives of all who knew her. Her friends were her cornerstone, standing by her side through every challenge and triumph. She was a beloved member of her community and left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
In her honor, the family requests donations be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, an organization Sofia supported wholeheartedly.
